Big Sal and his neighbors on Main Street in Big Sal's World: an owl, a pirate, a kid with a headset, a quarterback, a teacher and a mouse in front of Town Hall, the bodega, the barber shop and the Slang Cafรฉ.

I was born in Cuba and came here when I turned seven. I didn't speak any English and was thrown into the 1st grade. I was pretty good at coloring, and I tried hard, but I wasn't good enough for my teacher. She flunked me, and I had to suffer the teasing of flunking the 1st grade. (Ouch!)

I went on to try extra hard in school: St. Joseph's for grades 1 to 8 and Bishop Gorman for 9 and 10. When my parents divorced, my mom couldn't afford the private school, so I finished at a public school.

I noticed a big difference from the private school. Because of the separation of church and state, they weren't able to teach morality and faith in the same way. Schools teach kids a lot of important things today, but I feel they should also teach the core principles and values kids need to be successful in life! I've narrowed them down to 15 (see here) and will make books and songs in the coming year to address them all. They will all be free from dogma and religion, but 100% fun, memorable, and teach true principles and values.

I've had a blessed life. I got to retire early. And now I can spend my time creating quality content that I know will bless others by sharing the same core principles and values that helped me in my life. If you know a teacher, please let them know about our content. This is going to grow through a grassroots effort, not expensive ads. So if you like it, share it!

Welcome to Big Sal's World

Big Sal's World is a cartoon town run on heart. Big Sal is a hardworking Italian American who knows everybody on the block, from the bodega to the barber shop. Every episode, somebody in town gets into a mess, a little guide on their shoulder whispers good advice, and Big Sal pops in to share one pearl of wisdom. Capisce?

Each episode turns into a picture book, and each book gets its own song from the Say It Fancy Band. The book tells the story. The song helps the lesson stick. Teachers use the books, songs and lesson plans for character education in Canvas and Google Classroom.
